Pluto Moon & The Devouring Mother Archetype

I have explored this archetype over the years and it has fascinated me. I have observed people with hard aspects between these two planets extremely powerful especially if the aspect is applying in one’s astrological natal chart.

There is much to explore with this aspect. What I choose to focus on is the devouring mother archetype. This aspect in my opinion can be one of the most destructive archetypes.

The Moon is the matrix of our being, the psychosomatic foundation of the self, the senses which intuit, the feeling nature, the need to care, to nurture and be nurtured, the anima, the home, the mother, the ruler of the night sky to name a few.

Pluto is associated with the principle of elemental power, depth, intensity. It intensifies anything it touches sometimes to overwhelming and catastrophic extremes. It rules the primordial instincts, destructive and regenerative cycles, life and death as well as power struggles. Pluto impels burns, consumes, transfigures and resurrects. In mythology Pluto is the god of the underworld.

• An intense emotional life

• Transformation of feelings

• Domestic crisis

• Emotional blackmail

• Powerful Mother

In one’s birth natal chart a Pluto Moon usually comes from a background where it wasn’t safe to express feelings for it was felt that they would be used for purposes of manipulation, control or blackmail.

The Moon represents the mother. In this case with a Pluto Moon it can represent a powerful mother figure. The Planet Pluto can lead to obsessions. This can manifest as one being obsessed with their mother, or obsessed about becoming a mother and the mother being obsessed with the child.

The Pluto Moon aspect is a associated with the devouring mother archetype. That being over-protective, controlling and unable to let the fledging go. The Mother love in turn becomes devouring and manipulative, often this is subtle and covert. In extreme cases this will manifest as a form of vampirism having a mother suck the life force out of the child. It can also manifest as a mother who constantly invades the space of the child, allowing no hiding places, no secrets or privacy. This can also play out as the smother mother types that fears something will happen to their child therefore overprotective.

The Pluto Moon is associated with very primal feelings. The Devouring mother was one of the major impediments to human development. The over protective mother destroying the development and integrity of the child. To keep the child infantile instead of developing herself on a psychological level and letting the child go and flourish.

The fundamental nature of female psycho pathology associated the devouring mother archetype is the tendency to reduce everyone to the level of an infant in order to keep them safe, unevolved and within the montrous feminines grasp. Infantilisation is dangerous and is one of the main toxic submersive agendas going on within our society today. With the rise in technocracy and constant surveillance in the increasing orwellian state. It appears the role the devouring mother archetype is now playing out through the state. In a world that has demonised the masculine as toxic. The ever female psych pathology is a complete taboo subject. Yet we are under its influence more than ever.
